Medicine Overview of Brinz 10mg/ml Eye Drop

Introduction

Brinz is a medicine used to reduce increased pressure in the eye, in people with glaucoma or ocular hypertension(high pressure in the eye). If the pressure in your eye is too high it can damage your sight. Brinz works by decreasing the amount of fluid inside the eye. Never use Brinz if the seal is broken before you use it for the first time. Wash your hands before using it and shake the bottle well before each use. How to use Brinz

This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

How Brinz works

Brinz is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye), thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.

What if you forget to take Brinz?

If you miss a dose of Brinz, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Quick Tips

Brinz helps lower high pressure in the eye and reduce the risk of vision loss.

For best results, put one drop 2-3 times daily in the affected eye(s).

Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the drop. This minimizes the risk of side effects.

Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contaminating the eye drops.

Remove contact lenses before using Brinz, and wait at least 15 minutes before re-inserting them.

When applying multiple eye medications, wait for at least 5-15 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution of the medicine.

Indication

Open-angle glaucoma , ocular hypertension

Administration

May be used concomitantly with other topical ophthalmic drug products to lower intraocular pressure; if more than one topical ophthalmic drug being used, administer at least ten min apart

Adult Dose

Adult: Ophth Open-angle glaucoma; Ocular HTN As 1% susp: Instill 1 drop 2-3 times/day.

Contraindication

Brinzolamide 1% ophthalmic suspension is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.

Mode of Action

Brinzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that decreases secretion of aqueous humor thus reducing intraocular pressure.

Precaution

Hepatic and renal impairment; pregnancy. Efficacy has not been established in angle-closure glaucoma. Ensure an interval of at least 10 minutes between admin of different ophthalmic solutions. Lactation: Not known if distributed in breast milk; not recommedned (discontinue drug or do not nurse)

Interaction
