Introduction

Lucazol is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It works by killing the fungus that causes infections such as athlete’s foot, Dhobie Itch, thrush, ringworm and dry, flaky skin. How Lucazol works

Lucazol is an antifungal medication which treats skin infections. It works by killing the fungi on the skin by destroying their cell membrane. This relieves discomfort, itching and irritation on the skin.

Quick Tips

Lucazol helps treat skin infections caused by many different types of fungi.

Few healthy tips for Athlete's Foot:

Apply an amount sufficient to cover the affected area and 1 inch of the immediate surrounding skin.

It can take a few weeks for the infection to clear and a few months before the skin returns to its normal color.

Finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

It is not taken orally, so it does not cause many side effects.

Avoid getting it in the eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Inform your doctor if the infection has not cleared up after four weeks of treatment.

Indication

Indicated for the topical treatment of, tinea corporis (ring worm), tinea cruris (jock itch), interdigital tinea pedis (athelet's foot)

Administration

Apply cream to the affected area and 1 inch surrounding area(s).

Adult Dose

Topical cream Adult: Interdigital Tinea Pedis: Cream, 1% should be applied to the affected and immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for two weeks. Tinea Cruris and Tinea Corporis: Cream, 1% should be applied to the affected skin and immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for one week.

Child Dose

Topical cream Child: Tinea Corporis, Tinea Cruris <12 years: Safety and efficacy not established 12-18 years: Apply cream to affected area once a day for 1 week Tinea Pedis <2 years: Safety and efficacy not established 2-18 years: Apply cream to affected area once a day for 2 weeks

Mode of Action

Imidazole antifungal that alters the fungal cell membrane; interacts with 14-alpha demethylase (an enzyme necessary for conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol), inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol which is an essential component of the membrane; increases cell permeability causing leakage of cellular contents
