Lotenate Ophthalmic is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
To reduce the amount of Lotenate Ophthalmic that reaches the breastmilk, place pressure over the corner of the eye for 1 minute or more, then remove the excess solution with an absorbent tissue.
UNSAFE
Lotenate Ophthalmic may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use. Do not drive until your vision is clear.

How Lotenate Ophthalmic works
Lotenate Ophthalmic is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.
What if you forget to take Lotenate Ophthalmic?
If you miss a dose of Lotenate Ophthalmic, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Quick Tips
Your doctor has prescribed Lotenate Ophthalmic to treat redness and swelling (inflammation) of the eye.
Do not use Lotenate Ophthalmic for more than the prescribed duration as it may cause glaucoma or secondary infection.
Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contaminating the eye drops.
Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer.
