Uricon CR may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Uricon CR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Introduction
Uricon CR is used in the treatment of overactive bladder. It relieves urinary symptoms like frequent urination, urgent need to urinate and inability to control urination. Uricon CR is advised to take it in a dose and duration as per prescription. It should be taken in an empty stomach at least an hour before having a meal. Swallow the medicine as a whole without crushing or chewing it. You should not stop taking the medicine without consulting the doctor as it may lead to the worsening of your symptoms. How to use Uricon CR

How Uricon CR works
Uricon CR is an antimuscarinic. It works by relaxing muscles of the urinary bladder and prevents frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.
What if you forget to take Uricon CR?
If you miss a dose of Uricon CR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Quick Tips
- Uricon CR treats symptoms of an overactive bladder by lowering the urge to urinate and controlling urination.
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and carbonated drinks as they can worsen your symptoms.
- It may cause dizziness and blurring of vision. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
- Dry mouth, dry eyes, and constipation may occur as a side effect. Maintain good oral hygiene, drink water frequently, chew sugarless gum, and wear contact lenses with caution.
- It can take up to 4 weeks before you see any improvement in your symptoms. Keep taking it as prescribed.

Adult: As extended-release preparation: Initially, 5 mg once daily increased by 5 mg every wk if necessary to max 30 mg daily.
Child Dose

Detrusor Overactivity, Nocturnal enuresis
Bladder overactivity associated with a neurologic condition (eg, spina bifida)
Child >6 years (extended-release): 5 mg/day PO initially; may be increased by 5 mg/day at weekly intervals; not to exceed 20 mg/day
Contraindication
GI obstruction or atrophy, severe toxic megacolon, significant bladder outflow obstruction, glaucoma, urinary retention.
Mode of Action
Oxybutynin exerts direct antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscle by inhibiting the muscarinic action of acetylcholine. It exhibits moderate anticholinergic effect, but has potent antispasmodic effects on urinary smooth muscle.
Precaution
Elderly; hepatic or renal impairment; neuropathy; hyperthyroidism; prostatic hyperplasia; hiatus hernia; cardiac disease, reflux oesophagitis, ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis; pregnancy and lactation. High environmental temperature might cause heat prostration (fever with heat stroke due to decreased sweating).

Interaction
Co-administration with other anticholinergic drugs may cause undesirable increased anticholinergic effects. Additive sedation with CNS depressants and alcohol. Concentration may be increased by CYP3A4 inhibitirs (e.g. imidazole antifungals, macrolide antibiotics).
