Introduction
Aldorin 50 is used to treat diabetic nerve pain. Poorly controlled diabetes can eventually lead to diabetic nerve disease (neuropathy) as a complication. This medicine helps to relieve symptoms like burning pain and numbness seen in people with diabetic nerve disease. Aldorin 50 belongs to a group of medicines known as Aldose reductase inhibitors. How to use Aldorin 50
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aldorin 50 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Aldorin 50 works
Aldorin 50 is an aldose reductase inhibitor. It blocks the accumulation of sorbitol in cells, which has been related to causing diabetic nerve disease.
What if you forget to take Aldorin 50?
If you miss a dose of Aldorin 50, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Mode of Action
Epalrestat is aldose reductase inhibitor. The aldose reductase inhibitors have a distinct mechanism of action, affecting the underlying disease process in diabetic neuropathy, although the extent of the polyol pathway involvement is yet to be determined. Epalrestat reduces sorbitol accumulation in the sciatic nerve, erythrocytes. Epalrestat may improve motor and sensory nerve conduction velocity and subjective neuropathy symptoms.
Precaution
Urine may turn yellowish brown or reddish after taking the medicine, because the yellowish brown or reddish color is attributed to components of this medicine.
Side Effect
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include abdominal pain, nausea, rash, itch, erythema and blister.
