How to use Myoxan

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Myoxan is to be taken with food.

How Myoxan works

Myoxan is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm without reduction in strength. This improves pain and movement of muscles.

What if you forget to take Myoxan?

If you miss a dose of Myoxan, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Take it with or after food or a glass of milk.

Myoxan may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Myoxan as it may cause excessive drowsiness.

Administration

Should be taken with food.

Adult Dose

Oral Spasticity ; Muscle spasms Adult: 50-150 mg tid. Intramuscular Adult: One ampoule twice daily. Injection should be given slowly.

Child Dose

Oral Spasticity ; Muscle spasms Child: <6 yr: 5 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses; 6-14 yr: 2-4 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any component of the product Myasthenia gravis, Nursing mother

Mode of Action

Tolperisone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant.

Precaution

In case of children, the prescribed dose and duration of treatment should closely be observed.

Side Effect

Sometimes, muscular weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting and rarely hypersensitivity reactions may occur as side effects.

Interaction

Methocarbamol. Tolperisone HCl.
