Indication

Gastrointestinal Nematode Infections: Roundworms (e.g., Ascaris, Cooperia, Ostertagia, Haemonchus) Hookworms (e.g., Bunostomum, Ancylostoma) Nodular worms (e.g., Oesophagostomum) Whipworms (e.g., Trichuris) Respiratory Nematode Infections: Lungworms (e.g., Dictyocaulus, Metastrongylus) Urinary Tract Nematode Infections: Kidney worms (e.g., Dioctophyma)

Administration

The route of administration will vary depending on the animal's species, weight, and severity of infection. It is important to follow a veterinarian's instructions carefully.

Dose

Levamisole Powder: 0.08 gm Levamisole Powder per Kg body wt. The following dosage schedule can be followed for effective deworming: 1 gm Levamisole Powder mixed with 1 litre of drinking water can be used for 07 layer birds or 10 pullets or for 20 birds of grower stage (4-6 weeks age). Single application can ensure total elimination of worms. All other sources of drinking water should be removed during treatment with medicated solution. Mode of Action

Levamisole HCl prevents the formation of succinate dehydrogenase, which interferes with nematode glucose metabolism. Inhibiting this enzyme causes total and irreversible muscular paralysis in the worm. Levamisole hydrochloride has recently sparked widespread interest due to its immune regulating capabilities. This drug corrects immunologic imbalance by modifying the activity of T lymphocytes and phagocytes, hence it is most effective in immunologically depressed animals.

Contraindication

The medicine is not recommended for animals who are allergic to its active ingredient.

Precautions

After giving the animal Levamisole, make sure it has access to enough of drinking water.

Side Effect

When administered at therapeutic doses, Elcaris-vet in hens does not have any undesirable side effects. No negative effects are observed on egg production, fertility, or hatchability.Overdose symptoms include colic, coughing, excessive salivation, lachrymation, spasms, sweating, and vomiting.
